QUICK TACO MEAT

Hi Folks,

Here is a quick seasoned meat recipe that can be used for tacos, burritos or chalupas.

1 pound ground beef ( or your choice of meat )
1/2 onion finely chopped
2 garlic cloves finely minced ( or 1 teaspoon garlic powder )
2 Tablespoon chili powder
1 Tablespoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 - 1/2  4 - 4.5 ounce can chopped green chiles ( optional )
1/4 cup of water

In a pan add ground beef, onion and garlic, cook  over medium high heat until beef is no longer red ( about 5-7 minutes) breaking up meat with a spoon as it cooks. After meat has cooked drain fat ( if any) and return to stove, reduce heat to medium and add spices, green chiles and water and stir well, cook for 5 minutes or until water has been absorbed.

I like to make chile con queso with one half of the can of chiles, and add 1/4 cup of this taco meat to the queso, you can find that recipe on my blog, but if you don't want to make the queso, the chiles are totally optional.

This will make about 3 cups
